John 18-19 Good Friday
There is so much to write about this morning that it is hard for me to know where to begin! This is “Good” Friday, that is such a confusing name in modern English! But it is not a misnomer, it is from the Old English word “good”, meaning Holy, Pious, or Sacred, or Godly if you will, remember the old phrase "The Goode Book" to describe the Bible? So this is a sacred day, if you are new to all this, it would only be natural to ask what is good about the day we observe, as when our God Jesus was killed on the cross! So thinking of it as a Holy or Sacred day makes more sense!
But others consider it Good Friday because Jesus meant this death to bring “The Good News” to all who believe He was the Son of God and yet also God Himself, and the Spirit. Yes, this day is so important, without it there can be no resurrection, no New Life in Christ! It is a somber day, one of mourning, a quiet day when many fast from meat or other things. Many do not work and keep a quiet house on this day. I would love to write for hours here, but we have two medium-length chapters to cover, so I will keep it short. Click the link below and listen to John 18-19 and hear the whole account of this day. A very interesting couple of verses to dig deeper into are 18:5-6! If you are curious about why they fell to the ground, shoot me a DM. Tomorrow we will hear all the words from Jesus from the evening before and the morning of this day.
Talk with you soon!
