2nd Chronicles 9 The Queen of Sheba and Solomon

 

 


  Good Friday to all of you! I am running late again, as we had some adventures last night with a baby squirrel and a mammal rescue in Cleburne, Texas. My darling bride found the poor little guy with cats surrounding it, so we kept it warm and got it to a licensed rehabber. Then a late dinner at Grumps in Glen Rose. I didn’t even wake until five-thirty… Very late indeed! My bride says we have a big X on our home that all the needy animals see and run to us, LOL! She may just be right about that!

   Well, we are here for The Daily Bible Challenge, not Animal Rescue 911! Let’s get to 2nd Chronicles 9 and the Queen of Sheba. It is an interesting account of their meeting, in which she quizzes Solomon about many things and tests his Wisdom. From the sound of things, it would seem he passed her test. 

   Scholars still argue whether she was from Saba (pronounced Sheba) in Yemen or from Arabia. That debate will continue until Archaeologists find definitive evidence, but sometimes it continues long after real evidence is found. But there are at least 2 references in the Bible that discuss this meeting. There are even some rumors in Yemen that she came back pregnant from this meeting, but those cannot be well referenced from other known historical documents. The more we dig into the scripture, the more real God becomes to us!

Judges 7 God dealing with the pride of man, through Gideon

 Good morning, we have made it to Wednesday, and all is good! What an incredible God story we have in Today’s Daily Bible Challenge as we read/listen to Judges 7. I can only imagine what Gideon must have been feeling as God took away twenty-two thousand of his soldiers. God did this as Gideon was preparing for a battle in which he was already outnumbered by tens of thousands! But Gideon remained faithful, and then God took it from ten thousand to just three hundred! 1st Kings 4 Promises kept, although slower that planned!

    Good morning, I hope this letter finds you and yours well. We are doing well here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. With two hounds at my feet and a tiny cat in my lap, I write to all of you with great joy in my heart! It has been such a blessing to see this blog grow so much this past year, not for my gain but for God’s glory. Please humor me as I catch up on some details for long-time readers on our project list here on the homestead.   The pressure washing will start here on the house today, and the paint should start Monday if the weather holds up for us. Some of the siding got dirty as this project started over two years ago. (even under a real tarp, dirt crept in).
