2nd Chronicles 16-17

We made it to Friday! I hope your week has been productive! We have gotten a lot done here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. Today, I am working on the wiring on my antique truck before the transmission returns from being rebuilt by an acclaimed rebuilder in Las Vegas. With a new fuse block, I should be ready for this summer heat, running the AC full blast! Well, I am rambling, it is easy for me to do when talking about my old truck! It is also easy for me to do when sharing with people about my Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ!

We are in 2nd Chronicles 16-17 this morning, under a five-minute read/listen. It struck me this morning just how many leaders started off strong and became vain in their later years and stopped listening for God’s dierection! You have probably seen this before, but absolute power corrupts absolutely! It is the tale of humankind that we are all born with sin and fall when not running toward Jesus! We are instructed in scripture (with good cause) to flee from temptation. So the great king ASA fell into this trap and stopped seeking God and fell in his older years.

We pick up with a new king in chapter 17, King Jehoshaphat. You might get hung up on verse 17:3 as I did. The confusing keyword is Father, it is the Hebrew word Ab or Av, and means ancestry or forefather, although it can also mean father, also, but not in this case. Asa was Jehoshaphat’s father, and Jehoshaphat did not follow his father's drift away from God at this point.

Finishing strong is tough. If you are from a family that followed God and raised you that way, be watchful of satan using pride to make you stumble in the latter days, as we have read about in so many accounts of these kings! Click the link below and let the audiobook continue through 17. As always, we welcome your questions or comments via PM/DM, and we return each message personally.

  Talk with you soon!
