2nd Kings 17 So many false gods!


  Where do I start with a chapter like this? It is so full of evil, but you need to dig a little deeper to understand just how far they had fallen and how deep the evil was! It is easy to overlook some of this, I mean, passing your children through fire, sounds a little diferent than burning your babies to death as a sacrifice to false gods! Oh, and then to a lesser evil, when they talk about under green trees, that is sex out of marriage between temple prostitutes, part of Asherim worship. There are several other false gods they were following too! There is no depth of evil these people would not go to, running from their own true God! Time and time again, we see that we need a moral God like Jesus, Yahweh, and the Holy Spirit, or there is no telling how low we will go, running toward evil in our sin nature.


  I know this is not too uplifting for a Friday morning, but there is hope! I know of many who had wallowed in the depths of depravity, and God has pulled them out of that life and given them a new life in Christ! A life full of JOY, purpose, and even fun! One of those people I know is me! Before I finally stopped running from God and started running to Him, I had sunk to great lows of all kinds of addictions and depravity. But now I am a Pastor, loving every minute of serving God and His people!

Judges 7 God dealing with the pride of man, through Gideon

 Good morning, we have made it to Wednesday, and all is good! What an incredible God story we have in Today’s Daily Bible Challenge as we read/listen to Judges 7. I can only imagine what Gideon must have been feeling as God took away twenty-two thousand of his soldiers. God did this as Gideon was preparing for a battle in which he was already outnumbered by tens of thousands! But Gideon remained faithful, and then God took it from ten thousand to just three hundred! 1st Kings 4 Promises kept, although slower that planned!

    Good morning, I hope this letter finds you and yours well. We are doing well here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. With two hounds at my feet and a tiny cat in my lap, I write to all of you with great joy in my heart! It has been such a blessing to see this blog grow so much this past year, not for my gain but for God’s glory. Please humor me as I catch up on some details for long-time readers on our project list here on the homestead.   The pressure washing will start here on the house today, and the paint should start Monday if the weather holds up for us. Some of the siding got dirty as this project started over two years ago. (even under a real tarp, dirt crept in). A brother from church has asked to do the work, and he is very experienced with painting with the high-pressure spray type rig I am providing.
