2nd Kings 16
Good Thursday to all of you near and far! We are in chapter 16 of 2nd Kings for Today’s Daily Bible Challenge. It is a tough read. I do have a few major takeaways from the books of Kings: 1st, if the people had not provoked God by asking for a King, when God was already their King, most of this would not be happening. In fact, Israel would probably not even have split into two regions! None of these kings worked for the same reason socialism never works, you see, we are all fallen men and women. Absolute power corrupts absolutely! Knowing what you know about yourself, would you trust you to lead a nation, then how can we trust anyone else to lead? We need God as our leader; He is incorruptible!
Now, as for this King Ahaz, don’t miss that he was guilty of child sacrifice. See 2Kings 16:3, God has a special place for people who harm children! But He has a worse place for societies that practice child sacrifice!
