1st Chronicles 4

Good morning from The Little Hundred Acre Wood. My darling bride may return home today or tomorrow, depending on how she slept last night. I have tried to get ahead on all the chores so she can just rest on her return to be ready for her class on Thursday night. She is such a blessing from God for me, and I want her to know just how much I appreciate her! She was very concerned about my pulling the engine on that old truck, but it was all done safely and completed yesterday. The young man showed up early and bought it to complete his truck, so all went well. Today I will rest some as I did overdo it yesterday, doing far more than the engine pull and load. Well, there I go again rambling like the old man I have become. Let’s get to Today’s Daily Bible Challenge in 1st Chronicles 4.

I must admit that every detail I searched this morning led me to dead ends; it is not the most interesting of chapters. So let's look at it this way: The Jewish people found great importance in heritage/lineage. When speaking of a family, you represented your whole past, present, and future relatives. If your great-grandfather sinned against someone, you were shamed for his transgressions as if you did it yourself! Wow, what a burden that must have been. Can you imagine such a society? It is termed in scholarly research as “corporate personality”. So knowing this, you can see the importance of the genealogy to these people and why it is part of the Bible. Click the link below, listen for yourself, and see if you can find something to dig deeper into.
