Matthew 1 Merry Christmas, The Account of Jesus' Birth
Good morning, and Merry Christmas! We are finally here! Today, we begin our yearly tradition of pausing The Daily Bible Challenge wherever we are and moving on to the New Testament accounts of Jesus and His birth for Christmas. We will pick back up in 2nd Samuel this Friday, the 26th.
There are four chapters in two books that pertain to the accounts of Jesus’ birth. Matthew 1 & 2, and Luke 1 & 2, but today we will also be seeing a video about the prophecy fulfilled in Matthew 1:22-23. The prophecy comes from Isaiah 7:14 and is covered so well in this video by GotQuestions-dot-org/AKA Biblemunch that I thought I would share a link to it directly.
It is about seven minutes long, but confirms/prophesies the birth of Jesus some 740 years before His birth. The confirmation of Matthew’s verse is early in the video if you are in a rush this morning. But there are several more great prophecies about Jesus in the video. All with scripture referenced specifically for you to dig into for yourself. Got Questions videos are some of my favorites to dig a little deeper!
So, back to Matthew 1, the first 16 verses spell out how Jesus came from the lineage of King David. I normally suggest to new readers to skip the first 16 verses out of fear that they will never get to verse 17. However, it is essential to read them in detail today. Remember, Jesus’ father on earth (Joseph) was His stepdad, the Holy Spirit is His real Father (Matthew 1:20). But His lineage of mother and step-dad both lead back to the house of King David.
That lineage is a great study in itself if you are the type to dig really deep! I love how Jesus’ human lineage comes from a flawed and sinful family tree, so we know there is hope for us too! Through Jesus, we do not have to be bound by the chains of generational curses! Through Jesus, we can be truly free and unbound by our past and our family’s past. If you have questions or comments about that new freedom, please PM/DM us here today!
So please click the link below to join us as we read/listen about the real Christmas Story, each of the next four days! I will try not to get too long-winded in this busy time, but I get so excited for the real reason for the season!
Merry Christmas!
Talk with you soon!
