2nd Samuel 4 PRIDE and too many wives!



 Good Sunday morning wherever you are! I hope you will rise soon, get ready, and go to church for the fellowship and worship available to you there! We are in chapters 4 and 5 of 2nd Samuel today. We will read/listen to David killing two more messengers who thought he would be happy with them. We will also see David rise to be king of all of Israel, but not because of his own hands but of God’s doing!

 On a side note, we will also see for the second time the errors creeping in that will eventually be David’s downfall. Unfortunately, it has been a common issue with men worldwide throughout time. In modern day, I call it the inability to control their zipper! David is gathering wives and concubines and having sons and daughters everywhere! Yes, he loves God, and yes, he commits to all of these women in one form or another. But why would anyone want more than one spouse, but ego/pride? Pride seems to be the root of all evil and seems to be what takes down many a strong warrior/servant of God! This is something that can be overcome by leaning in hard on the Holy Spirit to discern our way along this life!

Judges 7 God dealing with the pride of man, through Gideon

 Good morning, we have made it to Wednesday, and all is good! What an incredible God story we have in Today’s Daily Bible Challenge as we read/listen to Judges 7. I can only imagine what Gideon must have been feeling as God took away twenty-two thousand of his soldiers. God did this as Gideon was preparing for a battle in which he was already outnumbered by tens of thousands! But Gideon remained faithful, and then God took it from ten thousand to just three hundred! 1st Kings 4 Promises kept, although slower that planned!

    Good morning, I hope this letter finds you and yours well. We are doing well here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. With two hounds at my feet and a tiny cat in my lap, I write to all of you with great joy in my heart! It has been such a blessing to see this blog grow so much this past year, not for my gain but for God’s glory. Please humor me as I catch up on some details for long-time readers on our project list here on the homestead.   The pressure washing will start here on the house today, and the paint should start Monday if the weather holds up for us. Some of the siding got dirty as this project started over two years ago. (even under a real tarp, dirt crept in). A brother from church has asked to do the work, and he is very experienced with painting with the high-pressure spray type rig I am providing.
