2nd Samuel 14 Interesting Chrade in Front of the King

Here we are at the dawn of another fine Monday morning. How will you shine your light today? As I await the warm red glow on the horizon out my little corner office windows, I find myself pondering today's upcoming events. My darling bride and I will be at the doctor’s office this morning for our annual physicals. We try to be a shining light of joy wherever we go, but medical appointments can make it a bit harder to do! We engage people in conversation and ask how their day is going. Sometimes, it works, and people engage back, allowing us to make a connection for Christ.

These days, we care about all the people we meet. This change in our hearts comes from a new life in Christ. In the past, we would have been more concerned about our own health issues, but we now understand that these are temporary things, and our joy is found in showing others the light of our Lord and Savior. Sometimes I wear a shirt or hoodie that says How can I pray for you today? It rarely produces any response, but someday I am sure it will produce fruit! Sometimes I am quite bold about it and ask people directly if we can pray for them. Some are quite warmed by it, and others are upset by it. God’s got a plan, and I just try to make a connection here and there to plant a seed of faith, or at least a question about faith. Well, there I go again rambling on about things. We are here for The Daily Bible Challenge in 2nd Samuel 14.

David has a couple of tricky people in his team, and they will go to great lengths, risking death from the wrath of the king, to get him to see the errors of his ways. I, for one, don’t trust Joab, and we will soon see that Absalom, the murderous son of David, can’t be truly trusted either. He seems to be holding a grudge against his father for not swiftly handing out justice for the rape of his sister by his half-brother, Amnon. (see yesterday’s chapter if you missed). I share in Absalom’s anger about that!

It is interesting to me that David knew who orchestrated this charade that plays out in today’s chapter. David was shrewd, or maybe God revealed it to him through his spirit!
