2nd Samuel 11 David Sins in Adultery and Even Murder
Good Friday morning, wherever this letter finds you! I worked toward finishing up some details on our home siding project yesterday, and oh man, did my back tell me about it last night! It was nothing some Aleve couldn’t take care of, so I hope to finish a bit more on it this morning. I need to get this finished before any real winter weather arrives. I hired this project out, except for one wall at the very back of the house. I am not residing that wall, just making some repairs to two sections of siding and replacing removed trim before I hire out the painting work in the early spring. Well, before I start boring you with rambling on and on about all the details of this eight-year off-and-on-again remodel, let’s get to The Daily Bible Challenge!
Second Samuel 11 is not one of my favorite parts of the Bible; I have no right to burn in anger against David, but somehow I still do! I have no right because I am guilty of lust and, therefore, adultery in my heart. Don’t worry, I have confessed all this to my darling bride, and she has forgiven my lustful eyes and heart of the past. I am no longer living in the chains of that sin! But David takes his prideful ways even farther with murder to cover up his tracks! He truly breaks his honor-bound duty with one of his closest warriors, and for that, I burn with anger, but judging David is a sin in itself, and in that, I am guilty of sinning against God’s anointed! Yeah, this Bible is a boring old book, RIGHT! Look how it forces me to see my own sins by showing me David was also a mere mortal man, as I am!
I truly believe God’s word is full of His supernatural power; through that power, it transforms us into a new creature with different motives! It is one part of the resources God left us to grow closer to Him, also known as saintification! Click the link below to listen to the full account of David’s great sin!
