1st Samuel 2 Hannah's Song of Praise


 
 Good Sunday morning! I hope you are up and getting ready for church —if not, there is still time! We have a great service planned with worship music, Baptisms, and prayer. Unlike this morning’s chapter, there will be no sacrifices in our service because Jesus was the ultimate and final sacrifice for our sins!

 Today, we are in chapter 2 of 1st Samuel, which starts off with a song of praise from Hannah to God for the gift of her son Samuel. She is later blessed with five more children after many years of being barren and harassed by her husband's other wife, who had many children. There is then a good description of how Eli, the head priest’s children, were the first PKs (Preacher’s Kids). Many times in church history and even through today, some preachers' kids can be some of the wildest, most unruly of them all! These kids seem to resent God for many reasons. Eli's sons were hellians, and God reveals it all to Eli in a chastising manner! But don’t take my word for it, listen for yourself by clicking the link below!

Judges 7 God dealing with the pride of man, through Gideon

 Good morning, we have made it to Wednesday, and all is good! What an incredible God story we have in Today’s Daily Bible Challenge as we read/listen to Judges 7. I can only imagine what Gideon must have been feeling as God took away twenty-two thousand of his soldiers. God did this as Gideon was preparing for a battle in which he was already outnumbered by tens of thousands! But Gideon remained faithful, and then God took it from ten thousand to just three hundred! Would you have argued with God, or maybe even just fled for your life?  Are you wondering why God would have done this? In my youth, I wondered about it too! 1st Kings 4 Promises kept, although slower that planned!

    Good morning, I hope this letter finds you and yours well. We are doing well here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. With two hounds at my feet and a tiny cat in my lap, I write to all of you with great joy in my heart! It has been such a blessing to see this blog grow so much this past year, not for my gain but for God’s glory. Please humor me as I catch up on some details for long-time readers on our project list here on the homestead.   The pressure washing will start here on the house today, and the paint should start Monday if the weather holds up for us. Some of the siding got dirty as this project started over two years ago. (even under a real tarp, dirt crept in). A brother from church has asked to do the work, and he is very experienced with painting with the high-pressure spray type rig I am providing.
