Judges 11 Foolish Vow in Haste Brings Anguish!

Good Sunday morning, it is cool and damp here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. If you are new here, you might not know how much or why I love God and His Word (The Bible). You see, I was once not the man you hear from every morning. I used to be a drunk, a drug user, addicted to some of the sleaziest things on this earth. But all that paled compared to the biggest sin of all, and that is pride. Well, little by little God delivered me from most of those things until one day He delivered me from alcohol and gave me a new life in Christ, one that is rooted in Him and the love He taught me to have for others.
It is from that love for Him and therefore you, that energizes me to get up most days before five and write to all of you! Why do I do it? Because I want you to have what God has given me, freedom from the chains that bound me, love in your heart for Him and those around you, and truly a new life in Christ!
Yes, I guess I am a one-trick pony; I have nothing else of value than to give you the love of Christ! I spend my days trying to love those around me in person and the wee hours of the morning trying to send that love out across the world through The Daily Bible Challenge on social media! I try not to be long-winded during the week, as most of you are in a hurry to get to work! In fact, I think it is far more important that you click the link to the Bible audiobook below than to read a single word I write! It is a great way to fill your commute with God’s word!
This morning’s chapter is challenging indeed! We read/listen to how a mighty warrior rose from being a complete outcast to a king/judge of God’s people. But it wasn't his pride and striving that put him in power; it was thrust upon him by the very people that made him an outcast!
We also read of how foolish it is to make oaths/vows in haste! It is a very sad story indeed! But I did a little research, and there may be hope for his daughter. She may have been sent to the temple as a servant. Well, there is only an implication to this effect, not clear evidence. But many places in scripture forbid human sacrifice, and other places where God destroyed whole cities for this crime against His creation! Here is a link to that research that gave me hope when reading this tragic account in history. https://www.gotquestions.org/Jephthahs-daughter.html
So, I don't always like the Bible’s words, especially the Old Testament, but I love God, and therefore I love the Bible. Did you know you can dislike something or someone and still love them? God teaches us how to do that!
Talk with you soon!
