Joshua 9 Shady Contracts!

 Today, we have an interesting chapter, especially if you like watching shows about courts or lawyers! Have you ever felt like you were being lied to to buy or sell something, you know, like when you go in the back room at the car dealer and all the paperwork is different than the oral deal you made with the salesman out front?

 God gave a command to His people about the inhabitants of the land He was giving them. But they were tricked into a fraudulent contract by a crafty people. In today’s law, you would probably be able to sue to get out of this contract, because the other party deceived you to get you to sign the contract. But these people did not have that because they had made an oath with the deceivers! But what about their covenant with God? We will have to see if there are any repercussions for these actions in later chapters. For now, let's just think of how we can make our yeses yes and our nos no! So much of life would go more easily if we lived by these words.

 There have been times in my life, long ago, when I reneged on a deal. But these days, if I say yes or no, that is what I follow through on, even if there are unforeseen unpleasant consequences.
