Joshua 8 Sorry for the book this morning, I answer what God puts on my heart!
Good morning, it seems we are past any demonic attacks here this morning on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. No illness, no skunks, just a peaceful scene with dogs asleep at my feet and the cat asleep on the bookshelf just behind me! Oh, and some great Costa Rican coffee to wake me up so I can write to all of you! I cherish cool, calm mornings like this as I pray and read God’s word, and try to talk you into clicking the link below to listen to the Bible for yourselves!
Before Jesus filled my heart with the Holy Spirit, I would not have cared if you read it or not. I was a callous soul, with no regard for others except for what I could get out of you! I was an addict of multiple persuasions, all the while trying to fill that empty, lonely hole in my heart. I tried to fill that hole with lots of wealth, porn, sex, drugs, and alcohol, and even religion, many of those at the same time, but nothing satisfied my insatiable drive to feel complete and have meaning in life!
Well, one day God woke me up with a revelation, and I never touched drugs or alcohol again, some 26 years ago now. Sometime after that, God dealt with some of my other addictions. I guess, like most people, I haven’t given up caffeine. I say coffee is for the protection of Madeline, my darling bride of 38 years; no one should have to deal with me without a good cup of coffee! But if God calls me out on coffee, I will never touch it again, either! You see, I have been delivered and forgiven of much, so I am a grateful servant now, willing to serve Him in all areas of our lives! Yes, I still slip up and sin, mostly in traffic LOL! But I catch myself and ask for forgiveness and repent. I also look for ways to avoid situations that make me sin. One of those things is not traveling routes that are full of traffic. I also avoid sitting in bars at restaurants. Avoiding temptation in your area a weakness is a strength!
So now, you probably know more about your author than you ever wanted to know. But I tell you these things out of the need for obedience and transparency. You see, my deliverance from death and hell is God’s story, not my own! He delivered me for a purpose, that purpose is to spread the word of God far and wide. He challenged me years ago to read the whole Bible; it took me quite a while to do it the first time. But sometime after that, He challenged me to start writing about Him and the Bible, and thus The Daily Bible Challenge was born out of the Holy Spirit in my heart, guiding me along the way.
Now it's my turn to challenge you! The power of God is real; He can change your whole life, too! He will start doing that if you surrender to Him as Lord and accept what Jesus did on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice, paying the price for your sins and mine. He did this so that we can be with Him in heaven! Yes, sin has a cost, but He willingly paid the price for you and me!
What does He expect from you, everything, or nothing? It is a condition of your heart that will determine what your personal journey will look like. If you love many idols, your cost will seem high! But if you are contrite and rich and surrender total control to Him, your material possessions may still be there; you will just see them differently. I would have preferred I were like that, but because of my pride, it cost me everything!
It is a great adventure accepting God’s calling on your heart. I am excited for you if you have made it through all these words (sorry for the book). If you want to start this New Life in Christ and have questions about how to start, please contact us directly here at The Daily Bible Challenge via DM/PM, and we will walk alongside you in this journey!
