Joshua 1 Giddy Travelers About to Reach the Promised Land


  Good morning, we had a newbie at Men’s Bible Study last night, he has rededicated his life to Christ after the Kirk incident, and is digging in with men to mentor him! I think Charlie's death is truly being used by God for an awakening in this country. I have heard so many stories like this over the last few weeks! I have compared this to Stephen being martyred and how it caused the Gospel to spread farther and deeper so rapidly in Biblical times. There are Martyrs daily around the world, but Charlie’s seems to strike a nerve, or like me, right to the heart! I guess I am still grieving for a friend I never met in person. There was something about how he treated people with such respect, especially in conflict! We all could use some Charlie in our hearts and minds!

  Well, today I want to tell you about another man who lived some three thousand years ago. His name was Joshua, and he inherited a huge role as leader of these nomads after Moses’ death. Joshua will make mistakes, too, but seems to stay in good graces with God along this journey into the Promised Land. Could you imagine having this role thrust upon you and then God starts talking to you directly, now that Moses is dead and buried? I find it interesting that some of these tribes were allowed to stay just across the Jordan instead of going into the Promised Land. But if you will remember, they still have to lead the other tribes into battle as they cross the Jordan, and then they can return to the pasture lands for their herds. I wonder if any of them will be sorry for not going to the Promised Land instead of these fields?

  Well, I know if I had been traveling in the wilderness for many years looking for the Promised Land, and I was about to cross over into that land, I would not be able to sleep the night before; I would be like a giddy seven-year-old boy about to start the baseball season the next day!

Judges 7 God dealing with the pride of man, through Gideon

 Good morning, we have made it to Wednesday, and all is good! What an incredible God story we have in Today’s Daily Bible Challenge as we read/listen to Judges 7. I can only imagine what Gideon must have been feeling as God took away twenty-two thousand of his soldiers. God did this as Gideon was preparing for a battle in which he was already outnumbered by tens of thousands! But Gideon remained faithful, and then God took it from ten thousand to just three hundred! 1st Kings 4 Promises kept, although slower that planned!

    Good morning, I hope this letter finds you and yours well. We are doing well here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. With two hounds at my feet and a tiny cat in my lap, I write to all of you with great joy in my heart! It has been such a blessing to see this blog grow so much this past year, not for my gain but for God’s glory. Please humor me as I catch up on some details for long-time readers on our project list here on the homestead.   The pressure washing will start here on the house today, and the paint should start Monday if the weather holds up for us. Some of the siding got dirty as this project started over two years ago. (even under a real tarp, dirt crept in). A brother from church has asked to do the work, and he is very experienced with painting with the high-pressure spray type rig I am providing.
