Joshua 6
It is a bit late on Sunday morning as I write this letter to all of you. Some call this God’s day in the Christian church. I am not a fan of that tradition. I think every day is God’s day, and we should live with that in mind. We as Americans seem to think every day is our day, even the Sabbath and “God’s Day” Sunday! Madeline and I are trying hard to learn how to make every day God’s day as a condition of our hearts! If your heart is fixed on glorifying God daily, it is harder to find yourself tricked into sin. It is easier to love on those we meet if God comes first, others second, and ourselves third!
So, how does making every day God’s day work? Well, for us, it means praying before our feet hit the ground each morning! It is amazing how this can set the tone for the day! Then I take care of the inside animals then our coffee. After the mandatory tumbler of Costa Rican Coffee is in my hand, I head into the little corner office looking out over The Little Hundred Acre Wood. There, I pray little prayers asking God to give me something to write before I write to all of you. Then I listen to The Daily Bible Challenge chapter for the day while reading along on BLB.ORG. Then I write to all of you, hoping to tempt you, entice you, or even beg you to understand the importance of a personal relationship with Christ, and one of the best ways to deepen that relationship is by learning about God by reading His word and praying. So before I write a book on that subject alone… Let’s get to The Daily Bible Challenge for today as we read/listen to Joshua 6.
This chapter has one of the strangest miracles in the whole Bible. It is teaching us and the soldiers in the chapter that God will fight your battles if you do things His way! God seems to have stretched these men to great lengths in setting aside their pride to do this very strange battle to conquer Jericho! What a great test of faith this must have been for all of them. Jericho had fortified walls, so to march around them daily without protection must have been tough for all these warriors! Open to being easily picked off by arrows or even just stones thrown down on their heads! But there is nothing written about any of that happening. God was requiring their obedience, and they seemed to follow the instructions to a “T.” Well, most of them anyway, more on that in tomorrow's chapter! For today, just click the link below and listen for yourself. Please don’t take my word for it, after all, I am just some stranger on the internet! We, here at The Daily Bible Challenge, are trying to get everyone to stop listening to gossip about God and start listening to God about God! Questions and comments are always welcome via DM/PM.
Talk with you soon!
