Numbers 14 Donuts and Chocolate Milk!

Good morning, it is Sunday, as the American church calls it, The Lord’s Day. We will be heading out to worship and fellowship at our church a bit later. I look forward to Sundays, when I can be in the company of friends, my brothers and sisters in Christ, all worshipping God. No church is perfect, it can’t be, as it is made up of fallen people! But our church does a pretty good job of keeping to the main purpose we were given by Christ. We are a family of disciple makers and focus on loving others well so they understand there is something different, in the hope that they will want that life change for themselves. We have a motto at our church it is “No perfect People Allowed”. Kind of rude, isn’t it, but what we are really saying is please don’t pretend everything is perfect in your life, we want to live a transparent life with you and with Christ! Broken, fallen people seeking healing and growth in Christ together as a family!

Speaking of fallen and imperfect people, we read all about such people in Numbers 14 this morning. Where we learn God has a limit on how much junk from people He will tolerate. Mocking God is not a wise lifestyle; it will lead to death and destruction, and for these people, it will lead to the removal of a pending blessing! I think of this as a parent blessing his young children with a feast of donuts and chocolate milk on Saturday morning, and the kids reject it all because they wanted a different kind of donut and wanted a soda! The wise father takes it all away to teach them the lesson of gratitude and humility. These people are the kids in this story, but in many ways so are we!

  Talk with you soon!
