Leviticus 20 Rough stuff but there is hope in God.

I want to share an uplifting message along with today’s chapter (Leviticus 20) for The Daily Bible Challenge, but this is not a particularly suitable chapter to provide what is needed for times like these. But there is some hope in this message. God did provide a way to be saved from the depravity of mankind. In the days of Leviticus, it was a set of rules to follow to avoid disrespecting God and bringing on His wrath. It was also animal sacrifice to cleanse the people who sinned. There are a lot of answers in this chapter to the ills of mankind in today’s world; many of these infractions had the death penalty as punishment, but some only had banishment. In my sinful nature, I assign a false hierarchy from this discrepancy of the penalties. It is important not to allow yourself to justify wrongs in such a way as my thinking above. Sin is sin, and all will be judged with a penalty of eternal punishment in Hell, but here is the good news: God allowed a pathway of forgiveness when He sent His son Jesus as the Messiah to pay the price for our sin. But again, in our sinful nature, we need to make sure we don’t use this as a license to sin. God will not be mocked by our searching for loopholes in His law for us!

Some other good news is that God sent the law to us to show us that we are now incapable of a sinless life, and we have a dependence on God to overcome the penalty required for our sinful nature. Without accepting Jesus’ payment for our sin, we are in effect slapping Jesus' face in a rude denial based on our pride. Pride always seems to lead to a fall that eventually leads to wallowing in sin based on our denial that we are sinners.

In closing, I challenge you to read/listen to Leviticus 20 by clicking the link below and see just how many of today’s societal woes could be solved if we would live according to these rules set out here in these pages. I am not saying we need to follow the guidelines on the punishment; we now have the government for enforcement. I am just saying, follow the laws, and life will be better as we will not be mocking God with our behavior. As always, your questions and comments are welcome via Direct Massaging.

We hope to talk with you soon!
