Leviticus 12 and Food Distribution
Good Saturday morning to you and yours, I hope this letter finds you well! I am up early and writing this before I head out to work the monthly food distribution at a friend’s church. This is a ministry I truly love, just south of Glen Rose, Texas. It is about a thirty-minute drive, and then mostly the same group of people meet early, pray, and then start sorting food as soon as the Tarrant Area Foodbank truck arrives. Then, about an hour later, there is a long line of cars waiting to drive up and get supplemental food supplies for themselves and or their neighbors. I like the idea of giving food away to people in need, but I also love the pastor of this little country church! I receive a real sense of community from this monthly event!
We do lots of ministry in our own church, too, but I am kind of an adopted member of this church, too! There are people of all ages among the workers and the recipients, too. Hardship comes at any age in your life, and having a church care for you in a time of need can show non-believers the Love Christ wanted us to show.
In some ways, we have no idea how good we have it here. I am approached on a regular basis by people in third-world countries desperately needing money to feed families or communities around them. They don’t have much of anything like Tarrant, Area Foodbank! Our church works hard at establishing relationships in many areas to make sure any contributions actually get to the needy and not into the corruption that flourishes in such areas of the world.
I, for one, don’t want God’s money going into corrupt hands instead of the ministry He had planned for those funds, and relationship and direct missions trips are about the only way to prevent this kind of corruption.
Well, I am sure rambling now, we are supposed to be talking about Leviticus 12, a very short chapter about the rules after giving birth to a child. Tomorrow’s chapter is about ten minutes long, so we won't add it to Today’s Daily Bible Challenge. Click the link below to listen for yourself!
Talk with you soon!
