Exodus 29 A Bloody Scene
Good morning from the little corner office overlooking the Little Hundred Acre Wood. Well, I said I would rest, and I did yesterday. Our only excursions were to HEB to pick up meds and stop in to switch out the rental truck for an SUV. Madeline could not get into the tall truck with her towering stature of barely five feet LOL! She now has a mid-sized SUV and can be completely independent and mobile again, while her smaller truck is having the bodywork completed. Oh, we also went out to a late lunch at the Loco Cyote west of Glen Rose. But the rest of the day, I was either asleep or watching YouTube videos. I may be sorry I rested, though, as stormy weather may delay my finishing the repairs on the antique truck Monday. Today is our Sabbath, so more rest is planned after church this morning. God created the Sabbath for man to rest, and He set the example for us in Genesis.
As we heard in the last few chapters, details are very important to God. Today, we get to hear how God planned for the sacrifices of animals to pay the price for the sins of the people in Exodus 29. Some of these details are not for the faint of heart, and PETA will surely not approve. This reminds me of how something had to die for the original sins of Adam and Eve, too (remember God providing their clothes?). All these sacrifices are a foreshadowing of how Jesus’ sacrifice allows us to have forgiveness of our sins. As Dr. White taught us in Seminary, there is nothing old in the Old Testament, just as there is nothing new in the New Testament! Jesus is all through the Old Testament if you dig a little deeper! This also applies in the New Testament, as all the prophecies of the Old Testament are lived out in the New! That is why details are so important as we keep the Bible in context as we study it as one big book made up of 66 individual books that somehow (by God’s power) all relate seamlessly, even though there were forty authors located many miles apart. Oh, and all these writings spanned over 1500 years apart, too. And for you skeptics, many of these authors did not have access to the previous author’s writings. Thus, we refer to this as the inspired word of God, He did the authorship by these forty servants mentioned above.
I have been reflecting a lot lately on the details of our life here on earth. I ponder what God would ask me to change to honor Him with every minute of every week as they are flying by these days! I like to live life to the fullest, but someone challenged me recently if busyness might just be an idol in my life… I didn’t like hearing it at the time, but I love that he was brave enough to call me out on it! True accountability in Love takes bravery, as it may cost you that relationship, as egos get bruised! You know who you are, so thank you, my brother in Christ!
Talk with you soon!
