Genesis 47

Good Thursday morning to all of you! Our Thursdays are big around The Little Hundred Acre Wood. If you are new here, that is the name of our humble little homestead in North Central Texas. My bride works at the local Artisan Bakery, and I have contractor work today and ministry tonight. I started my day at three this morning with prayers for others (mostly marriages in crisis, but some individuals also). Next, is feeding the inside animals, and making my, and Madeline's coffee (yes, two different pots) and cereal for breakfast. Normally, I have eggs, but I wanted a change this morning! Then I move into my little corner office overlooking the lake far below and the impending sunrise. I start reading the chapter for Today’s Daily Bible Challenge, and then sometimes some commentaries and other research also. Then I write something according to how the Holy Spirit leads me. I like to write something to entice you to read/listen to the Bible because so few people have even read one page of the Bible, settling for out-of-context verses along this difficult and busy life! I write to you because I truly believe this is a life-or-death matter, not that some old book will save your life, but the knowledge hidden in between those front and back covers will lead you to an understanding of how you can be saved from the depravity of this world. Yes, we need a savior, or we will surely spend eternity alone in hell without God to save us after we arrive. Your chance to be saved is a limited-time deal; when your time is up, it is too late. The time to learn about Jesus and God, and the Holy Spirit is now, not after your eyes close for the last time! God will not be mocked, so please don’t pretend with him and make this some kind of show!

If you are new here, click the link below to listen to the Bible (Made possible by the good folks at Blue Letter Bible). Today we are in chapter 47 of Genesis, and we see Joseph’s whole family move to Egypt to avoid the famine through the provision God has planned for all of them through their brother/son Joseph. What a blessing it must have been for Joseph to get to save his entire family! We will also see some shrewd business skills over the next few years of famine. Notice that a fair price was requested of the sellers each year, not pennies on the dollar. It was enough food for a whole year each time. Yes, they eventually gave everything, but this was a 7-year famine, and they were kept alive! Talk with you soon!
