Exodus 13 Hopeful recipiant of God's Love

Good Friday morning to all of you!

We have a busy day today with behind-the-scenes work for God and His people. This is the kind of thing most people don’t even think of, yet it is part of making all the pieces fit together in a church. There are so many people reaching out in need every week around the world, but behind the scenes, someone is vetting the recipients, and then after that, others are serving them with hearts full of hope and love! You may be asking, “What is this vetting”? Well, to be good stewards of God’s resources, someone needs to make sure these are not con artists going from church to church and other organizations every month, taking advantage and living high off the generosity of others and stealing those resources from the truly needy.

But after the vetting, there is only love, support, and opportunities to grow and find a pathway to break the chains of poverty. For some, it is a temporary situation, a crisis pregnancy, or a sudden major health crisis that puts people in a bad financial situation, which often leads to homelessness. For others, it may be a generational curse taught from moms and dads who lived through some disaster and never broke free from the poverty it brought on. Behind the scenes at churches and charities around the world, these people are being served every day. If your church doesn’t have this, find out why! Is it that they are waiting on someone like “you” with a heart of gold to rise up and take on the challenge? If it is because they have hardened hearts like the Pharaoh we have been reading about in Exodus, then maybe it is time to find a new church! Or maybe it's time to rise up and be the person to facilitate a new heart for that church and create the change that is needed! “The Church” is not the Pastor, or Priest, it is the people! We, as the church, need to take action to love others all week long, not just pretend on Sunday morning! Today, housing for a single mom in crisis will be arranged and prepared by people she has never met, and maybe never will. Or she may meet them and never know they scrubbed the floors and did all the laundry and stocked the pantry for her before she moved in! Because the Glory belongs to God and these servants are happy to stay behind the scenes, being the hands and feet of God to change the heart of a single mom with nowhere else to turn!

Well, I am rambling again, let’s get to The Daily Bible Challenge in Exodus 13, where we will find God asking for the firstborn to be consecrated unto Him for eternity. It takes some real soul searching and digging deeper to come to a better understanding of just how important this is to God. Remember, this is not greed from God, but is really about the condition of your heart and attitude toward God! Ask yourself, is God your genie in a bottle only pulled out when you have a desire, or is He your Father, your Lord, and your Savior? Even Moses struggled with this human characteristic of self-centeredness! One way to break that chain of self-centeredness is to serve others in need, kind of like we rambled on and on about in the first two paragraphs this morning!

Talk with you soon!
