Holy Saturday! What would you have been doing if you followed Jesus?
Holy Saturday! What would you have been doing if you followed Jesus? Would we be giddy in anticipation or cowering in fear, waiting for the Roman soldiers to arrest us, too? One of the frequent statements from God is Do not fear; which is said 58 times in the Bible! So God/Jesus would not want us to be cowering in fear, while we wait for resurrection Sunday! Today is a day of waiting, but for those disciples, it must have been a very tough time. The man/God they followed for the last three years was now dead and in a tomb being embalmed with 100 pounds of spices and fine linen cloth. Yes, they were told many times that this was coming, but they did not understand, nor did they comprehend why, or that He was the Holy Lamb, a perfect sacrifice to pay for all sin for all mankind that will accept and believe!
Since the followers were just hiding together in fear, there is not a good chapter to reference for this particular day, so we will cover another account of the crucifixion recorded in the pages of Mark 15. Remember, these accounts were written by different authors spread over about seventy years after the death and resurrection, and ascension of Christ. These followers were now not all gathered in one place; they were spread out after the martyrdom death of Stephen, yet all their accounts are so closely matched in the events of this time. I hope, like us, you are preparing your hearts for Easter Sunday, which is the most important celebration day in the Christian faith!
There is also a very important fact in verse 38 of this chapter, Mar 15:38 NASB95 - And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Tis curtain is described in the Old Testament to be woven and about 4 inches thick. This is a sign from God that, due to Jesus’ sacrifice, God was no longer separated from us who believe; we are able to approach God directly and do not need priests as our go-between! That is, if we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and truly believe! Do you believe, is Jesus your LORD and Savior? If not, we are here and happy to help you find what you seek, just send us a private message and we will get back with you shortly!
