Genesis 28 God Uses Flawed People for His Glory
Good morning! We have a theme going as we study Genesis, and the more we delve into these men and women of the past, the more we see that God has started a trend of using flawed men for His messengers and for His mighty men of war and leadership. I know I picked on Abraham so much that many of you were frustrated with me! My purpose for pointing this out becomes more in focus now as we see this trend, God is glorified through the weakness of mankind. Our weakness proves we need Him to save us from ourselves and from satan’s snares of this life. We are incapable of doing good unless it is He doing it through us. We are all evil by nature and need Him to save us!
So Jacob, whose name means deceiver, is chosen to lead and create this new land and its many descendants to fill the land for generations to come. It is important to remember that this trend will continue through Jesus's coming for the first time and even to this day. Abraham, Moses, King David, Peter, Paul, Thomas, all had huge character flaws, yet they are all God’s chosen vessels for His work. So if you are saying to yourself, I am too messed up, God will never forgive me, and He would never use someone like me for good! Please reconsider what limits you put on God; all things are possible through His power, Glory, and Grace! After all, you are reading the writings of a man that was once an addict to alcohol, sex, porn, theft, pride, greed, and a general con-artist! Now forgiven and forever changed, He uses me to try to get people all around the world to read His Bible cover to cover in this ministry called The Daily Bible Challenge, now in its seventh year!
