Genesis 19 Strange Parenting and Strange Visitors

    Oh my, where to start with this chapter, it is one of the most troubling of all the chapters of the Old Testament! We have a father making hideous decisions for his daughters, and we have disobedience leading to a very strange death, and we have the destruction of two cities by God for their wicked ways. Then we have deception, with the elderly father being abused while drunk by his adult daughters in incestuous fornication so they could have sons. Some say this Bible is boring, dry reading, but maybe those who say that have not read all of it!  

   The Daily Bible Challenge is anything but boring, well, except maybe when I ramble on and on as an old man about something like old trucks and Jeeps and remodeling, but God is never boring! We are just distracted by the world's shiny tidbits luring us away from God’s path for us! It is important to remember how God blessed Abraham by granting protection to Lot as Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed!

Judges 7 God dealing with the pride of man, through Gideon

 Good morning, we have made it to Wednesday, and all is good! What an incredible God story we have in Today’s Daily Bible Challenge as we read/listen to Judges 7. I can only imagine what Gideon must have been feeling as God took away twenty-two thousand of his soldiers. God did this as Gideon was preparing for a battle in which he was already outnumbered by tens of thousands! But Gideon remained faithful, and then God took it from ten thousand to just three hundred! Would you have argued with God, or maybe even just fled for your life?  Are you wondering why God would have done this? In my youth, I wondered about it too! 1st Kings 4 Promises kept, although slower that planned!

    Good morning, I hope this letter finds you and yours well. We are doing well here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. With two hounds at my feet and a tiny cat in my lap, I write to all of you with great joy in my heart! It has been such a blessing to see this blog grow so much this past year, not for my gain but for God’s glory. Please humor me as I catch up on some details for long-time readers on our project list here on the homestead.   The pressure washing will start here on the house today, and the paint should start Monday if the weather holds up for us. Some of the siding got dirty as this project started over two years ago. (even under a real tarp, dirt crept in). A brother from church has asked to do the work, and he is very experienced with painting with the high-pressure spray type rig I am providing.
