Genesis 17 A New Name
Good morning, it is another fine Friday. I hope you have great plans for this day; most of mine were washed out by storms this morning at about 3 o’clock. I have some auto repair projects to finish up, and the metal needs to be dry for most of these projects to begin. Go to my FB home page after an hour or so for more details on that.
We are here to read/listen and discuss Abram and Sarai and their new names from God in Genesis 17. In past posts, I have mistakenly referred to Abram and Sarai interchangeably as Abraham and Sarah. But Today’s Daily Bible Challenge chapter 17 is when they are officially renamed by God. Have you ever considered renaming yourself to identify yourself in your new life in Christ as a new creation? I had mixed reasons when I switched from my first name, Van, to my middle name, Austin. But my reasons also included a separation from my past life and identity to the new one Jesus was beginning for me. I think more people should do this because it helps you remember that the old you is dead and you are now a new creation in Christ!
There is so much rich detail in this chapter, I hope you will pray for God to reveal it to you and then listen well as this story unfolds. There are life-changing lessons on faith for all of us in this important text, details about how to live life and try to be God honoring in each moment of our days. As always, we welcome your comments and questions via PM/DMs. Although this ministry is growing, we still answer each comment or question directly, with no auto responses or AI/bots.
Talk with you soon!
