Genesis 16
Good morning, I like Thursdays a lot. I am a co-leader in a Re/Generation program at our campus of StoneWater Church on Thursday nights. It is one of the highlights of my week as I work with and watch these men on a journey to get closer to God and also be honest with themselves as far as what damage has been done to them and what damage they have done to others in their lives. It is a slow process peeling the onion; most men are made like that! Men are also like a honeycomb in some ways, as they have all these little compartments, and they keep everything separated that way. The women have their own groups at the same time as the men, but we start with prayer, worship, and then teaching before we separate into groups of men in one room and women in another to discuss our book work from the previous week. With the time commitment, it is almost like a college class in your relationship with God and others! About eleven months from now, these men will be very changed from the inside out, exciting indeed!
Well, I digress, let’s get to Genesis 16 for Today’s Daily Bible Challenge as we see Sarai mistreating Hagar for a very confusing reason. After all, Sarai is who set all these events in motion, and Hagar was at least a servant if not a slave. And then there is Abram making some strange decisions; he could have said no! I will always get confused by human behavior in times of stress, so I tend to expect the unexpected, and then it is easier to deal with after the fact. I, too, have made some pretty poor decisions in life, so please don’t think any of this is judgment on my part, more confusion of how someone could go this far without an internal red flag popping up, like a huge stop sign!
Talk with you soon!
