Wild saloon parties and Genesis 5

Good morning and Happy Sabbath to the Churches that celebrate on Sunday, to the others I hope your Sabbath was full of rest worship, and fellowship as God designed it to be! We have had a very full weekend so far and hope for a more restful Sabbath today. Yesterday, we had a son move in for ninety days of restoration, a car repair, a reorganization of the kitchen & pantry (allowing for our son’s supplies), and a birthday party for a friend at a tiny saloon built in 1897, that friend just turned 70, I would guess him to be in his fifties as full of life as he is! He has a lifelong passion/affinity for Hawaiian shirts and asked the partygoers to wear one if they had one. I pulled out my antique made-in-Hawaii shirt from my late Uncle John and wore it proudly. It only comes out of storage for special occasions! Now to not paint this scene incorrectly, this was a mixed crowd celebrating, people ranging from their teens and early twenties all the way into their late eighties!

The saloon was an indoor-outdoor kind of place with a large outside back porch area. We will be going back soon for the live local music! There is a great crawfish place down the block so I see a long fun day ahead soon! There were a lot of bikers of various forms that came through over the few hours we were there, mostly the city weekender types. The first round was all on dual sport bikes mostly BMWs. The second round was all on 20K custom Harley Touring rigs. I think there were just too many “church people” there for these two crowds to hang around long LOL! We church people can be a bad influence don’t-cha-know with all that laughing and cuttin'up! Well as is the norm for such parties, the barkeep was expecting little to no tips from a church crowd, but as is the norm for our church her tip jar was quite full by the end of the afternoon! The weather was perfect and all seemed to have a great time.

Well if you are here just for the Bible Challenge, sorry, we do life here too! God commanded us to Go out and we do that and visit about when we do! But let's go ahead and get to Genesis 5 for Today’s Daily Bible Challenge, I spent quite a bit of time on a wild goose chase this morning trying to find out a “Why” question! (Why was Adam’s genealogy start with Seth here totally leaving out Cain and Able?). While most of you will be more sidetracked by why did people live nine hundred-plus years then, I lock up on technicalities! Maybe I am more like Thomas than Peter? But after much reading, I felt the answer was two-fold, style of writing for old Hebrew tradition (not so much a historical account of all that happened) and that they were only concerned with the righteous lineage here that led to the Messiah.

As far as the long life spans, God decided to correct that later to a lifespan of 120 years. I could not even imagine living for almost a thousand years, I am not sure I could even handle that emotionally! Although I think I would have more of a sense of adventure if I knew I would be around that long! Click the link and listen for yourself!

   Talk with you soon!
