Revelation 12

Good morning and Happy Sabbath to all those who celebrate on Sunday, it is a cold dreary day here on The Little Hundred Acre Wood. If you are a long time reader here or just want the Bible, please skip to the final paragraph now. If you are new here, this next section is to introduce you to some characters that will occasionally dance their way through this daily Bible Blog. No, these are not Bible Characters but are more in my mind as I try to wrestle with this harsh world and living in it. I am not a fan of the cold or grey skies, but they do make us appreciate the warm sunny days even more! Now the background for the newbies, just as Christopher Robin’s playland had an amount of fictionalized elements, so does the Little Hundred Acre Wood down here in Texas overlooking Lake Granbury. It is the name we chose for our little homestead and is well below one hundred acres. But it is connected to more vacant land and that helps keep us protected at least somewhat from the urban sprawl. We also have several of the characters from Pooh’s adventures, Roo, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, and sometimes Winnie make an appearance too. Most of those characters are played by domestic cats here and sometimes they play the role of ferocious lions too. Some are played by actual animals, such as rabbits and owls, and of course the hounds played by our two dogs, but one of my faves has always been Eeyore played by a 1993 Jeep Cherokee. All these things began to appear in my writing shortly after we moved here from the “big-city” and I fell in a kind of love for this land. It has not become an idol, but is a great blessing from God. But as the land around us is swallowed up from urban sprawl, my affection for this little oasis has become even more fond as the time slips away into the past. We are constantly trying to protect this land and improve it for our own food needs, but also for the wildlife that is displaced more and more as time marches on.

Today’s Daily Bible Challenge in Revelation 12 is full of characters, but they are real and are to come in the final days. Some are quite terrifying if you are a believer like I am. The terrifying ones, like in today’s chapter, sometimes make me long for the simpler days of Christiher Robin’s imaginary land of the Little Hundred Aker Wood. Everything always seems to work out just fine in Winnie the Pooh’s little land! I often retreat to such thoughts in my head to relax and calm down from the fear I have while reading the book of Revelation. Most of my fear is not for myself, but as God has melted my heart of stone and gave me a heart for all His people, I dread those days for those that are not in a saving relationship with Him! The suffering and fearful events will for me be too harsh to bear, and because I am a guy who believes in Mid-trib rapture (or maybe even post trib) I hope these times will be after my death. I don’t say these things in rebellion against God, just out of understanding who He has made me now and how hard it would be to bear all this in person. Click the link below to listen for yourself if you are brave enough! Remember bravery is acting despite your fears!

So in a nutshell, I write to all of you each day to inspire you to read God’s word and learn about Him and what is to come! Because I believe the Bible and know that through it God has made a pathway available to all of us to be with Him in heaven one day if we will accept His precious gift prepared for us by the sacrifice of Jesus the Messiah! If you have questions about a new life in Christ with a new heart that is not callused, please send us those through Private Message!
