Genesis 12 Are you good at waiting?
Waiting on God or anyone else, for that matter, is not one of my strong points, how about you? In today’s Daily Bible Challenge (Genesis 12), we read more of God’s promise to Abraham and Sarah (here they are still called Abram and Sarai). So if they are to be a great nation, then they will have to have offspring to do so. Now remember, Sarai was described earlier as barren, so this will be a miracle of God’s doing. They had to wait 75 years for this child to be born to start their new lineage that God promised! I struggle with this guy Abram quite a bit, but who am I to question God’s authority and choices of who He favors! I have struggled for a long time with Abram as I wrestle with his choices later in this chapter and later in Genesis also. I tend to struggle with people who cower in fear for their own lives, but my lack of fear is probably just because I know where I will be going when I die (so, maybe it is not any kind of bravery)!
Speaking of bravery, yesterday Madeline and I went out to watch some barrel racing in a small town near us. There were probably 100 riders ranging from under eight years old to late fifties or sixties. There were two brave little souls who really impressed me; they were both in the under-eight class, one could barely fit in the saddle, yet went out confidently without any hesitation and finished strong for her class with a time in the mid twenties. The other was someone who was just made for this; she too, was tiny, yet she turned in a time of sixteen seconds. Now, the best adult run of the night was just over fourteen seconds, and many adult long-time riders still were in the sixteens through seventeens. This little lady had no fear and probably has an amazing future ahead! I hope to go watch these rodeo events more often now that we know more about this facility, so close to us.
Talk with you soon!
